10-year-old Divith’s first and Prishita’s fifth overall, second consecutive National title
The sole leader, FM Madhesh Kumar S (PUD) drew against FM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (MP). It allowed CM Divith Reddy Adulla (TEL) to catch up. The 10-year-old boy, Divith defeated Shaunak Badole (MAH) to become the champion on tie-breaks 9.5/11, Madhesh finished second. Niladri Banerjee (WB) shared the point with CM Samath Sreeni Warrier (GUJ) to finish third 9/11.
First time I remember seeing him almost four years ago in a Simul against Gukesh and Arjun. Everyone including Gukesh and Arjun were happily surprised with his play back then when he was just 6-years-old. Back then, I wrote that he might have lost the game, however, the learnings from this simul and the memory that has been created for him, will definitely help him attain greater heights. He just did manage that – winning a National Sub-Junior Under-15 Open Championship at a tender age of just 10 years.
Despite, needing a draw to become a clear champion, WIM Prishita Gupta (DEL) went for the maximum and defeated WFM Saranya Devi Narahari (AP) to win her second consecutive National, a fortnight after becoming National Under-17 Girls champion. WFM Nivedita V C (TN) scored a full point over WCM Sravyasree Bheemarasetty (AP) to secure second place. The reigning Asian Under-14 Girls Gold medalist, WFM Maitreyi Mondal (WB) drew with WCM Aadhya Jain (DEL) to finish third.
