Narayanan S L and Vitaly Kunin are cochampions at 39th International Hassloch Chess Days 2026
GM Narayanan S L and GM Vitaly Kunin scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 each to become cochampions at 39th Internationale Hasslocher Schachtage A (>1800) 2026.
Narayanan’s third rating tournament triumph of the year
GM Narayanan S L and GM Vitaly Kunin (GER) were the coleaders at 5.5/6 each, heading into the final round. Levent Klein (GER) and Valentin Udelnov (GER) lost to GM Narayanan S L and GM Vitaly Kunin (GER) respectively. Both Narayanan and Kunin ended up not only with the same score 6.5/7 but also with the identical tie-break scores. Thus, they shared first place. IM Tarun Kanyamarala (IRL) defeated Erik Eberhart (GER) to finish third scoring 5.5/7.
The total participation was 342 – 128 in Group A (DWZ >1800), 214 in Group B (DWZ <1800). The total prize fund was more than €10000. The top three prizes were €2100, €1400 and €700 each.

A total of 128 players including three GMs, two IMs and a WGM took part from eleven countries across the world. The four-day seven-round Rating A (>1800) tournament was organized by Philipp Scholz in Hassloch, Germany from 22nd to 25th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
