P Gopinath dominates 4th Khannur Rating Open 2026
P Gopinath scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win 4th Khannur Rating Open 2026. Gopinath finished a half point ahead of the rest. Shreyas Ghadi scored 7/8 to secure second place. Aarush Bhat scored 6/8 to finish third. The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each.
Gopinath’s first tournament triumph of the year
Second seeded, P Gopinath was the sole leader 6.5/7, heading into the final round. Shreyas Ghadi was the only pursuer at 6/7. M P Sai Karthik lost to Gopinath and the latter became a clear champion. Krishna V Shinde suffered defeat against Shreyas who secured second place. Aarush Bhat defeated J Thippeswamy to finish third.

A total of 46 players took part from all over the country. The five-day eight-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Khannur Group of Institutions at Bellary Kalyan Mantappa in Ranebennur, Karnataka on 16th, 17th, 19th and 20th January. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
