Jaiveer Mahendru wins 2nd Power Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2026
FM Jaiveer Mahendru and FM Gaurang Bagwe scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 each at 2nd Power Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2026. Jaiveer won the tournament on tie-breaks.
Jaiveer’s eighth overall, sixth rating tournament triumph of the year
The reigning Maharashtra State Blitz 2026 champion, FM Jaiveer Mahendru and FM Gaurang Bagwe made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Nine players were trailing them by a full point at 7/8 each. Gaurang drew against Jaiveer, the latter became the champion and the former second. Keval Nirgun defeated Om Nagnath Lamkane to finish third with 8/9.
The total prize fund was ₹250000. The top three prizes were ₹41000, ₹31000 and ₹21000 with a trophy each.

FM Jaiveer Mahendru scored an unbeaten 8.5/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 14.8 Elo rating points
A total of 368 players took part from various parts of Maharashtra and other states of India. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Power Chess Academy and Chess Association Washim at Tirupati Lawn and Resort in Washim, Maharashtra on 30th August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
