Kishan Kumar conquers 1st KMC 29 Ward Chairman Cup Rapid Rating Open 2082

Kishan Kumar, FM Kshitiz Bhandari (NEP) and Aashish Phuyal (NEP) scored 8/9 each at 1st KMC 29 Ward Chairman Cup Rating Open 2082. Kishan won the tournament on tie-breaks, Kshitiz and Aashish secured second and third place respectively. The total prize fund was NRs 337000. The top three prizes were NRs 35000, 30000 and 25000 along with a trophy each. This is Kishan’s first tournament triumph of the year.

Half a dozen players – FM Kshitiz Bhandari (NEP), Subedi Rajan (NEP), Akash Subedi (NEP), Kishan Kumar, Aashish Phuyal (NEP) and Mahendra Kumar Sambahamphe (NEP) were the leadrs at 7/8 each. Kishan defeated Akash to become the champion. Mahendra lost to Kshitiz and the latter finished second. Aashish won against Subedi to claim third place.

A total of 227 players took part from all over Nepal and 19 from India. The two-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by and at Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 29 in Kathmandu, Nepal on 23rd and 24th January. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
