Pranav Venkatesh’s team Elektroprivreda clear first at Montenegro Premier League 2026
Elektroprivreda scored an unbeaten 23/27 to successfully defend their title at Montenegro Premier League 2026. In the final round, they defeated the eventual runner-up, Buducnost by 4-2.
Elektroprivreda’s third consecutive, fifth title in six years
Elektroprivreda clinched their third consecutive and fifth title in the past six years. Buducnost scored 22/27 to secure second place. Mimoza and Crnogorac scored 19/27 each. They were placed third and fourth respectively. This is the reigning World Junior champion, Pranav’s third rating tournament triumph of the year.

Elektroprivreda’s team performance
GM Pranav Venkatesh, GM Nikita Petrov and GM Luka Draskovic scored 5.5/7 each. GM Boban Bogosavljevic played all nine games and scored 7 points. GM Denis Kadric scored 5/8, followed by FM Bozidar Kisic 3/4, FM Jovan Milovic 3.5/5 and FM Oleg Yaksin 4.5/7 contributed towards the team’s triumph.

GM Ivan Cheparinov (2627) did what the position needed him to do 21…Nxg3 22.fxg3 dxe5 23.Nc4 Bxd4+ 24.Nxd4 exd4 Black got three pawns for a piece. However, White ended up having a bishop pair against knight and three pawns in ten more moves and won the game.
GM Pranav Venkatesh scored an unbeaten 5.5/7, performed at 2698 and gained 3.9 Elo rating points

The ten-team Round-Robin team tournament was organized by Montenegro Chess Federation in Palas, Petrovac, Montenegro from 1st to 9th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
