Rachishnu Datta prevails at 6th Llinars Open Group B 2026

Rachishnu Datta scored 7.5/9 to win 6th Llinars Open Group B (<2000) Rating 2026. His younger sister, WCM Rajanya Datta scored a WIM-norm.

Ekaterina Vlad Ivanova was the sole leader 7/8, heading into the final round of Group B (<2000). Daniel Abreu Flores (ESP), Rachishnu Datta and Jueun Hong (KOR) were trailing by a half point at 6.5/8 each. Rachishnu defeated Daniel to become a clear champion. Ekaterina lost to Alfonso Cemborain Oricain (ESP) and the former finished second. Jueun drew against Max Massot Cervera (ESP) to finish third.

This is Rachishnu’s second overall, first rating tournament triumph of the year. As of this writing, Rachishnu is in a four-way lead at 48th Barbera del Valles B 2026.

WCM Rajanya Datta (Rachishnu’s younger sister) scored 6/9 to score a WIM-norm. This was the first time in the tournament’s history a norm was scored. It goes without saying that the tournament was a huge success for the Datta siblings – Rachishnu and Rajanya.

The total prize fund was €8500+. The top three prizes in Group A were €2000, €1200 and €700 along with a trophy and local products gift. For Group B they were, €350, €300 and €200 along with a trophy and LPG each.

A total of 89 players took part from seven countries across the world in Group B (<2000) category. The nine-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Club d’Escacs Llinars at Auditori Llinars del Valles in Llinars del Valles, Barcelona, Spain from 25th June to 3rd July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.

A total of 64 players including a GM and five IMs took part from 13 countries across the world in Group A (>1850) category. The nine-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Club d’Escacs Llinars at Auditori Llinars del Valles in Llinars del Valles, Barcelona, Spain from 25th June to 3rd July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
