Just days after his induction into the World Chess Hall of Fame, Swedish chess legend Ulf Andersson will be joined by fellow grandmasters Pia Cramling, Ferdinand Hellers, Harry Schüssler and Juan Bellon Lopez, as well as chess creator Anna Cramling, for a one-day rapid tournament in Stockholm on Thursday 29 October.

The Svarta Hästen Invitational marks Andersson’s 75th birthday year and brings together 16 players, including old friends and prominent figures from Swedish chess. Andersson, who reached number four in the world rankings during his career, is one of the initiators of the event together with Håkan Östling, Carl Fredrik Johansson and Svarta Hästen.
The field spans generations and different parts of the chess world. Pia Cramling, a former world number one among women and two-time European women’s champion, will play in the same event as her daughter Anna Cramling, a chess creator with an international following.
The tournament will be played over seven rounds at the chess bar Svarta Hästen Chess & Wine in central Stockholm, Sweden. Play begins at 10:00 CET, with the final round scheduled to finish at approximately 16:15 CET. The time control is 15 minutes per player plus a five-second increment per move.
