Kishan Kumar wins Sarwatra Shatranj Madhepura Rapid Rating Open 2026
Kishan Kumar and Jayesh Mishra scored an unbeaten 8/9 at Sarwatra Shatranj Madhepura Rapid Rating Open 2026. Kishan won the tournament on tie-breaks, Jayesh second. Sameer Bardhan scored sole 7.5/9 to finish third.
Kishan’s second rating tournament triumph of the year
Jayesh Mishra and Kishan Kumar were the coleaders 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Kishan drew against Shibantak Saha to become the champion. Vikash Kumar Sahani shared the point with Jayesh and the latter finished second. Sameer Bardhan defeated Harsh Vardhan Singh to finish third.
The total prize fund was ₹51000. The top three prizes were ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 120 players took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Madhepura District Chess Association at B P Mandal Indoor Stadium in Madhepura, Bihar on 11th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
