Sarbartho Mani and Divi Bijesh are 39th National Under-11 Open and Girls 2026 Champions
FM Sarbartho Mani and WCM Divi Bijesh scored 10.5/11 and 9.5/11 each respectively to win 39th National Under-11 Open and Girls Chess Championships 2026.
Sarbartho’s second, Divi’s National triumph of their career
Second seeded, FM Sarbartho Mani (WB) was the sole leader 9.5/10, heading into the final round. He was a full point ahead of the rest. Devanarayanan Kalliyath (KER) and CM Sattwik Swain (ODI) were at 8.5/10 each. Sarbartho defeated Devanarayanan to become a clear champion. Sattwik won against Ansh Kabra (UP) to secure second place. Ayansh Singh (UP) lost to FM Advik Amit Agrawal (MAH) who finished third.
In the Girls event, WCM Nakshatra Gumudavelly (KAR) and the top seed, WCM Divi Bijesh (KER) were coleaders at 8.5/10 each. Prisha Gholap (MAH), Radhya Malhotra (PUN) and Vanshika Rawat (DEL) were trailing by a half point at 8/10 each. Divi defeated her coleader Nakshatra to become a clear champion. Radhya lost to Vanshika who secured second place. Prisha drew against Sayyadh Raudah (TEL) to finish third.
The total prize fund was ₹800000, ₹400000 each in Open and Girls event. The top three prizes were ₹70000, ₹60000 and ₹50000 along with a trophy each.

WCM Divi Bijesh scored an unbeaten 9.5/11, finished a half point ahead of the rest and gained 2.8 Elo rating points
A total of 402 players took part from 26 states and union territories across the country. The seven-day eleven-round Rating tournament was organized by Dakshina Kannada Chess Association at Urwa Indoor Stadium in Mangaluru, Karnataka from 2nd to 8th August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
A total of 224 players took part from 29 states and union territories across the country. The seven-day eleven-round Rating tournament was organized by Dakshina Kannada Chess Association at Urwa Indoor Stadium in Mangaluru, Karnataka from 2nd to 8th August 2026.
