Diptayan Ghosh dominates PICA Chess Festival Rapid Rating Open 2026
GM Diptayan Ghosh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win PICA Chess Festival 2026 Rapid Rating Open.
Diptayan’s third rating tournament triumph of the year
The top seed of the tournament, GM Diptayan Ghosh made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. IM Sidhant Mohapatra and Srujan Keerthan Solleti were trailing by a half point at 7.5/8 each. Diptayan drew against Sidhant to become a clear champion, Sidhant finished third. Vatsal Singla defeated Nithik Reddy Bhavanam to secure second place scoring 8/9.
The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹16000 along with a trophy and medal each.

GM Diptayan Ghosh scored 8.5/9, finished a half point ahead of the rest and increased his Elo rating by 2.2 points
A total of 846 players including a GM, three IMs and a WGM took part from various parts of the country, one from Belgium and Netherlands each, two from Canada and Germany each, and seven from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Pratyusha International Chess Academy at Sri Chaitanya Future Pathways School in Hyderabad, Telangana on 16th August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
