Ankit Das awesome at Sarwatra Shatranj Kishanganj Rapid Rating Open 2026
Ankit Das scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Sarwatra Shatranj Kishanganj Rapid Rating Open 2026. FM Samyak Dharewa scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. He also remained undefeated. Naiyayike Biswas scored 7.5/9 to finish third.
Ankit’s first rating, fourth overall tournament triumph of the year
Ankit Das was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. The top seed of the tournament – FM Samyak Dharewa, Shubham Kumar, Parambrata Sarkar and FM Kumar Gaurav were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Ankit defeated Parambrata to become a clear champion. Kumar lost to Samyak and the latter finished second. Naiyayike Biswas won against Abhishek Sonu to claim third place.
The total prize fund was ₹51000. The top three prizes were ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 251 players took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Kishanganj District Chess Association at Sri Jain Terapanth Bhawan in Kishanganj, Bihar on 3rd May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
