Antoine Bournel decimates 1st Harda Rapid Rating Open 2026, Kartavya Anadkat second and Prakhar Bajaj third

IM Antoine Bournel (FRA) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Harda Rapid Rating Open 2026. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Kartavya Anadkat and CM Prakhar Bajaj scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third places respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹151000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each.

Antoine wins the first rating tournament he plays in 2026

IM Antoine Bournel (FRA) made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Five players – IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Vaibhav Nema, Kartavya Anadkat, CM Prakhar Bajaj and Mraduhas Tripathi were trailing by a full point at 7/8 each. Antoine needed just a draw to become a clear champion and that’s what he did against Vaibhav. Mraduhas lost to Kartavya who finished second. Dinesh suffered defeat versus Prakhar and the latter claimed third place.

A total of 308 players including three IMs and a WIM took part from all over the country, one from France and Sri Lanka each. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by District Chess Association Harda at Harda Degree College in Harda, Madhya Pradesh on 24th January 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
