Anustoop Biswas amazing at 12th Kalutara Rating Open 2026, Arun Kataria second
Anustoop Biswas scored an unbeaten 9/10 to win 12th Kalutara Chess Festival Rating Open 2026. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. FM Arun Kataria and CM Amarasinghe A A C B (SRI) scored 8.5/10 each. They secured second and third place respectively. The total prize fund was LKR 1500000. The top three prizes were LKR 200000, 100000 and 60000 along with a trophy and medal each. This was Anustoop’s second overall, first rating tournament triumph of the year.

CM Sivathanujan S (SRI), Senarathne A A H M B (SRI) and Anustoop Biswas were the three leaders 8/9, heading into the final round. Sivathanujan lost to Anustoop and the latter became the champion. The top seed of the event, FM Arun Kataria defeated Sethum Weerasinghe (SRI) to secure second place. Amarasinghe won against Senarathne to finish third.
11-year-old Thehas Rithmitha Kiringoda (SRI) scored a perfect 9/9 to win the Blitz Rating Open. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. Anustoop Biswas, FM Arun Kataria and Weerasinghe C C (SRI) scored 8/9 each. They finished second, third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. The top three prizes in Blitz were LKR 40000, 25000 and 20000 along with a trophy and medal each.

A total of 452 players took part from all over Sri Lanka and three from India. The five-day ten-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Super Fighters Chess Club in collaboration with Kalutara District Chess Association and Chess Federation of Sri Lanka at Randiya Hotel in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka from 4th to 8th February 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
Final standings in Classical Rating
A total of 349 players took part from all over Sri Lanka and three from India. The one-day nine-round Blitz Rating Open tournament was organized by Super Fighters Chess Club in collaboration with Kalutara District Chess Association and Chess Federation of Sri Lanka at Randiya Hotel in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka on 6th February 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
