Girinath P D S clear first at 10th Chessmii Rating Open 2026
IM Girinath P D S scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 10th Chessmii Rating Open 2026.
Girinath’s fourth rating tournament triumph of the year
Rahul V S was the sole leader at 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Savanth Krishnan R and IM Girinath P D S were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Girinath defeated Rahul to become a clear champion. Renjith Rejath drew against Savanth and the latter finished second. Ayyappan P Santhana Prabhu lost to Abhijith U who claimed third place. This is the revered IM Girinath’s fourth Classical tournament triumph of the year, second in the month of September. He won all four events within a span of a little over four months. It is indubitably incredible.
The total prize fund was ₹601000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹25000 with a trophy each respectively.

IM Girinath P D S scored an unbeaten 8/9, finished a half point ahead of the field and maintained his Elo rating
A total of 226 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country, one from Kenya and Scotland each. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Chessmii.com and Chessmii School of Chess at Nava Nirman Silver Jubilee Indoor Stadium in Ernakulam, Kerala from 19th to 23rd September 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
