Kartavya Anadkat conquers Vihang Kulkarni Chess Foundation Rapid Rating Open 2026
Kartavya Anadkat scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Vihang Kulkarni Chess Foundation One Day Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Kartavya’s fifth overall, third rating tournament triumph of the year
The reigning Gujarat State Rapid and Blitz 2026 champion, Kartavya Anadkat, made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. IM Suyog Wagh was the sole pursuer at 7.5/8. Kartavya drew against Suyog to become the champion, Suyog finished second. Pushkar Dere defeated Rachit H Gurnani to claim third place.
The total prize fund was ₹500100 for Rapid Rating Open. The top three prizes were ₹50001 + trophy, ₹40001 + trophy and ₹30001 each.

A total of 482 players including a GM and six IMs took part from various parts of the country, one from Netherlands and Zambia, and two from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Vihang Kulkarni Chess Foundation at CKP Hall in Thane, Maharashtra on 31st May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
