Neelash Saha dominates 2nd Dehradun Rapid Rating Open 2026
IM Neelash Saha scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 2nd Dehradun Rapid Rating Open 2026. FM Arun Kataria and GM Sriram Jha scored 8/9 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks.
Neelash’s third rating tournament triumph of the year
The top seed of the tournament, IM Neelash Saha was the sole leader 7.5/8, going into the last round. Five players – GM Sriram Jha, FM Arun Kataria, Vinay Raj Bhatt, Ekaaksha Partap Singh Negi and Shreyas Raj were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Shreyas lost to Neelash and the latter became the champion. Arun and Sriram defeated Ekaaksha and Vinay respectively to secure second and third place.
The total prize fund was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹45000, ₹35000 and ₹31000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 340 players including a GM and two IMs took part from all over the country, two from Nepal and one from Thailand. The two-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Mall of Dehradun and Chess Knight Academy at Mall of Dehradun in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 2nd and 3rd May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 20 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
