Nikhil Dixit prevails at 5th Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2026
IM Nikhil Dixit and IM Suyog Wagh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 each at 5th Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2026. Nikhil won the tournament on tie-breaks, Suyog secured second place.
Nikhil’s first rating tournament triumph of the year
IM Nikhil Dixit and IM Suyog Wagh were the coleaders at 7.5/8 each, heading into the final round. Eight players were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Nikhil defeated IM Mandar Pradip Lad to become the champion. Suyog won against FM Om Manish Kadam to be placed second. IM Anuj Shrivatri scored a full point over Paras Dilip Bhoir to finish third with 8/9. WIM Mrudul Dehankar is the only female to make a top ten finish. She scored 7.5/9 to claim seventh place.
The total prize fund was ā¹300000. The top three prizes were ā¹50000, ā¹35000 and ā¹20000 with a trophy each.

A total of 413 players including nine IMs and two WIMs took part from various parts of India and one from Zambia. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Pinnacle Chess Events at Korum Mall in Thane, Maharashtra on 27th September 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
