Saptorshi Gupta scored a perfect 6/6 to win Summit Rapid Rating Open June 2026.
Saptorshi’s first rating tournament triumph of the year
Saptorshi Gupta won the tournament with a 100% score of 6/6. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. Minh Nhat (Sunny) Truong (NZL) and Junqing Jerome Tao (NZL) scored 5/6 each. They shared second place. Saptorshi is a Ph.D. Scholar. at University of Auckland. He plays chess whenever he gets some time between his research work. He is the reigning New Zealand Fischer Random (Chess960) unofficial champion.
The total prize fund was NZ$ 430. The top three prizes were NZ$ 120, 80 and 40 along with a trophy each.

A total of 53 players took part from five countries across the world. The one-day six-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Summit Chess Club at Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre in Auckland, New Zealand on 14th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
