R Praggnanandhaa scored his fourth Classical win in-a-row to clinc1 14th Norway Chess 2026.

Praggnanandhaa wins four Classical games in-a-row

R Praggnanandhaa defeated Vincent Keymer in the final round to clinch the tournament with a score 18/30. Wesley So won Armageddon against Alireza Firouzja. Thus, So finished second 17/30 and Firouzja third 16/30. Magnus Carlsen won against D Gukesh to finish fourth 13/30.

Praggnanandhaa – Keymer: 3-0

R Praggnanandhaa (2735) won the crucial final round game against Vincent Keymer (GER, 2767) to beat him second time at this event and win the tournament. As Praggnanandhaa said in one of the interviews, winning the tournament is more important than winning four Classical games in-a-row.

Position after 30…h5??

30…h5?? was a critical mistake by Black. He misjudged White’s intentions 31.Rb8+ Kh7 32.Nef3 Ne4 33.f5 Bd7 34.Rd8 Ba4 35.Ne5 and it’s over. White won the game in ten more moves.

Format

6 players will take part in the Tournament.

The Tournament is a double-round event with Armageddon.

The Tournament consists of 10 rounds.

Berger tables will be used for the pairings.

Default time is 15 minutes.

Time Control

Each player will have 120 minutes on the clock with an increment of 10 seconds starting from move 41. The time control for the Armageddon game: white has 10 minutes and black has 7 minutes with an increment for both players of 1 second per move, starting from move 41.

Draw by Mutual Agreement

Players are not allowed to agree to a draw until at least 30 moves have been made by each player. This rule does not apply to Armageddon games.

Armageddon

If the classical game is drawn, an Armageddon game will be played. It shall start within 20 minutes of the conclusion of the classical game. The player with White pieces will continue with White in Armageddon. If the Armageddon game is drawn, black will win.
