Girinath prevails at 1st Dollar City Rating Open 2026
IM Girinath P D S and Anecx Kanjiravila B C scored 8/9 each at 1st Dollar City Rating Open 2026. Girinath won the tournament on tie-breaks, Anecx was placed second.
Girinath’s first rating tournament triumph of the year
Arul Anandh S P K was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Revered veteran IM Girinath P D S and Anecx Kanjiravila B C were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Jayanth Venkatesh lost to Girinath and the latter became the champion. Arul went down against Anecx who finished second, Arul was placed third.
The total prize fund was ₹300001. The top three prizes were ₹30001 + trophy, ₹25000 and ₹20000 each.
A total of 244 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by King’s Chess Academy Tirupur at Aurobindo Vidhyalaya in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu from 13th to 17th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
