Ishaan RayChaudhuri and Eishita Lahiry scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win West Bengal State Under-11 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2026
Ishaan’s first, Eishita’s second State title
Ishaan RayChaudhuri, Adhrit Medda and Jainesh Bhaumik, all three from South 24 Parganas district were the leaders at 6.5/7 each, heading into the final round. Aaradhyo Guin (Paschim Medinipur) lost to Ishaan and the latter became the champion. Adhrit defeated Jainesh to finish second. Manomay Mondal (North 24 Parganas) lost to Kazi Adyan Ahmed (Kolkata) who claimed third place.
In the Girls event, Eishita Lahiry (Kolkata) was the sole leader 6.5/7, going into the last round. Arpitangshi Bhattacharya (Kolkata) and Saiaastha Singh (Kolkata) were trailing by a half point at 6/7 each. Eishita defeated Saiaastha to become a clear champion. Arpitangshi drew against Trisha Palai (Paschim Medinipur) and the former secured second place. The reigning West Bengal State Under-7 Girls champion, Aaditri Majumdar (Kolkata) won against Aahiri Pal (Hooghly) and the former finished third.

The four-day eight-round Under-9 Open Rating tournament was organized by Alekhine Chess Club at P B Academic School in Kolkata, West Bengal from 28th to 31st May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
