Pratitee Bordoloi clinches Silver at World Youth Under-18 Girls 2026

WFM Pratitee Bordoloi scored an unbeaten 9/11 to clinch Silver at World Youth Under-18 Girls Chess Championship 2026.

Impressive Pratitee earns a WIM-norm

12-year-old WFM Pratitee Bordoloi earned the sole medal for India at this event. The profusely talented girl could have played in Under-14 Girls, yet she opted to play two categories higher than her age and delivered a stellar performance. Her Silver medal performance earned her a WIM-norm and she also gained a whopping 129.6 Elo rating points. She drew with both eventual Gold medalist – WFM Valeria Kleymenova and Bronze medal winner – WIM Qinxuanyi Wang (CHN) in Round 7 and 9 respectively. Pratitee has won countless medals for India at various events. It goes without saying that this was a fantastic performance and she is definitely a talent to watch out for.

The total prize fund was €20000 in goods (Chess, technology, and educational gifts to the top 3 ranked of each category).

A total of 104 players including eight WIMs took part from 59 countries across the world in Under-18 Girls category. The eleven-day eleven-round Rating tournament was organized by FIDE at Congress Center Pala Dean Martin in Montesilvano, Italy from 15th to 26th June 2026. Rest day was on Sunday 21st June. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
