Alireza Firouzja won Armageddon against Nodirbek Abdusattorov to win Grand Chess Tour Super Rapid and Blitz 2026 Croatia.

Worst Blitz day of his career

“Today is the worst Blitz career (day) of my life actually, the worst day of my life career-wise, I think scored 3 out of 9 I think (He scored 3.5/9). So it’s really a horrible performance for me but I am at the end. I am happy that I managed to get the tie-breaks at least.” – Alireza Firouzja shared his feelings after winning Grand Chess Tour Super Rapid and Blitz Croatia 2026.

“Yeah I am the most proud against Gukesh. I had to win that game to force the tie-breaks. So that game was really important. I was happy that I managed to find some tricks.” Firouzja on how he kept going despite not having a good day.

Alireza Firouzja won US$ 47500, Nodirbek Abdusattorov $42500 and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave $25000.
