Xiangzhi Bu clear first at Biel Chess Festival 2026 Blitz Rating Open, Diptayan Ghosh second
GM Xiangzhi Bu scored an unbeaten 11/13 to win Biel Chess Festival 2026 Blitz Rating Open. GM Diptayan Ghosh, GM Eltaj Safarli and FM Johannes Rappazzo scored 10/13 each. They were placed second, third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks.
Four Indians in top ten
Both GM Xiangzhi Bu (CHN) and GM Diptayan Ghosh remained undefeated. Apart from Diptayan, GM Arjun Kalyan, GM Aronyak Ghosh and IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh were the remaining three Indians to make a top ten finish. Arjun and Aronyak scored 9.5/13 each, Nubairshah scored 9/13.
The total prize fund was CHF 3600 + non-cash prizes. The top three prizes were CHF 800, 700 and 600.

A total of 167 players including seven GMs, 13 IMs and three WGMs took part from 33 countries across the world. The one-day Blitz Rating Open tournament was organized by Biel Chess Festival at Concert Hall, Biel Congress Center in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland on 19th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
