Hari Madhavan amazing at 7th Warrior Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2026
IM Hari Madhavan N B scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 7th Warrior Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2026. GM Ilamparthi A R and IM Harsh Suresh were placed second and third.
Hari’s fifth rating tournament triumph of the year
IM Hari Madhavan N B made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a full point lead over a dozen players who were trailing at 7/8 each. A draw would have sufficed for him to become a clear champion and that’s what he did against IM Viani Antonio Dcunha in the final round. GM Ilamparthi A R defeated IM S Harshad to finish second. IM P Saravana Krishnan lost to IM Harsh Suresh who claimed third place.
The total prize fund was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 505 players including two GMs and nine IMs took part from various parts of India, one from Denmark, Norway, Scotland, South Korea, and four from the USA each. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Warrior Chess Academy at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 11th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
