Manish Anto Cristiano wins International Chess Day Rapid Rating Open 2026 Tirupattur
IM Manish Anto Cristiano F scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win International Chess Day Rapid Rating Open 2026 Tirupattur.
Manish’s fourth overall, third rating tournament triumph of the year
Half a dozen players – IM Manish Anto Cristiano F, FM Ram S Krishnan, FM Prasannaa S, Dhanush Ragav N S, S Kaarthikeyan and Tharunika G were the leaders at 7/8 each, heading into the final round. Manish defeated Tharunika to become the champion. Kaarthikeyan lost to Prasannaa and the latter finished second. Dhanush drew against Ram who claimed third place. Tharunika G was the sole female to make a top ten finish. She scored 7/9 to be placed tenth.
The total prize fund was ₹303000. The top three prizes were ₹28000, ₹22000 and ₹17500 each.

A total of 230 players including two IMs took part from various parts of India and one from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Tirupattur District Chess Association at Papa Seth Mahal in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu on 19th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
