Vitaly Sivuk clear first at 34th Heart of Finland Open 2026, Harikrishnan third
GM Vitaly Sivuk scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 34th Heart of Finland Open 2026. GM Harikrishnan A Ra finished third scoring 7/9.
Harikrishnan first in Blitz, his second tournament triumph of the year
Four players – GM Tamas Fodor Jr. (HUN), GM Harikrishnan A Ra, IM Toivo Keinänen (FIN) and GM Paulius Pultinevicius (LTU) scored 7/9 each, a half point behind the champion. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks.
In the Blitz event, Harikrishnan scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 to win the event. GM Vitaly Sivuk (SWE) scored 5.5/7 to finish second.
The tournament witnessed the total participation of players – in Classical and in Blitz.
The total prize fund was €10000, with a first prize of €2500.

A total of 136 players including seven GMs, seven IMs and two WIMs took part from 19 countries across the world in Open. The seven-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Jyväs-Shakki ry at Jyväskylän kristillinen opisto in Jyväskylän, Finland from 13th to 19th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
A total of 41 players including two GMs, an IM and a WIM took part from eight countries across the world in the Blitz. The one-day seven-round Blitz Rating tournament was organized by Jyväs-Shakki ry at Jyväskylän kristillinen opisto in Jyväskylän, Finland on 17th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
