IM Nodar Lortkipanidze scored an unbeaten 9/10 to win Alba Grand Prix Rapid 2026. GM Narayanan S L scored 8.5/10 to secure second place.

IMs dominate the podium

IM Nodar Lortkipanidze (GEO) scored 9/10 to become a clear champion. GM S L Narayanan scored 8.5/10 to secure second place. Eight players scored 8/10. Out of them, IM Filip Magold (ROU) was placed third according to tie-breaks.

The total prize fund was €25000. The top three prizes were Lei 15000, 10000 and 7500 along with a trophy and a medal each.

A total of 402 players including 19 GMs, 23 IMs, a WGM and 3 WIMs took part from 26 countries across the world. The two-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Federatia Romana de Sah at House of Culture in Alba Iulia, Romania on 1st and 2nd August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment.
