Anuj Shrivatri wins 1st Ekal Shrihari Rapid Rating Open 2026

IM Anuj Shrivatri scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 1st Ekal Shrihari Rapid Rating Open 2026.

Anuj’s eighth rating tournament triumph of the year, Top five score 8/9

IM Anuj Shrivatri and IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh were the coleaders at 7.5/8 each, heading into the final round. Nubairshah drew against Anuj, the latter became the champion and the former fourth. Atharv Soni lost to FM Vivaan Vishal Shah who secured second place. Om Gada defeated Kush Ajay Agarwal to finish third.

The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹71000, ₹35000 and ₹21000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 371 players including a GM and three IMs took part from all over the country and three from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Ekal Shrihari Vanvasi Vikas Trust – Yuva Wing at Maharaja Agrasen Palace in Surat, Gujarat on 2nd August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
