CM Kumaresh A and Andras Lajos dr Szijarto scored 5/6 each at 20th Premium Chess Tournament Budapest 2026. Kumaresh won the tournament on tie-breaks, Andras was placed second.
Kumaresh’s fourth overall, second rating tournament triumph of the year
Half a dozen players – CM Kumaresh A, Bank Karacsonyi (HUN), FM Kristof Kovacs (HUN), Mate Felmery (HUN), CM Barnabas Seres (HUN) and Andras Lajos dr Szijarto (HUN) were the leaders at 4/5 each. Kumaresh defeated Barnabas to become the champion. Andras won against Mate to finish second. Kristof drew against Bank who claimed third place.
The total prize fund was HUF 400000. The top three prizes were HUF 80000, 50000 and 40000 HUF each.

A total of 44 players including an IM took part from five countries across the world. The three-day six-round Rating Open tournament was organized by AO Jozsef Jeszenszky at Buena Kitchen and Bar, Agora Menza in Budapest, Hungary from 4th to 6th September 2026. The time control of the tournament was 70 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
