Abhay Bandewar wins 2nd Jabalpur Rapid Rating Open 2026
Abhay Bandewar, Saksham Wadhwa, Saurabh Choubey, Vaibhav Nema and Shivansh Tiwari scored 8/9 each at 2nd Jabalpur Rapid Rating Open 2026. Abhay won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining four were placed second to fifth respectively. The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. This was Abhay’s first tournament triumph of the year.

Saurabh Choubey made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a full point lead heading into the last round. Abhay Bandewar, Vaibhav Nema, Rajesh Diwan, Saksham Wadhwa, Divyansh Singh Katharna, Abhishek Solani and Shivansh Tiwari were trailing by a full point at 7/8 each. Saurabh needed a draw in the final round to become a clear champion. He lost to Saksham who finished second. Saurabh was placed third. Abhay defeated Abhishek to win the tournament.

A total of 359 players took part from all over the country and one from Sweden. The two-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Foundation Chess Academy at Hotel The Grand Jabalpur ‘Lal Haveli’ in Jabalpur, Rajasthan on 3rd and 4th January 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment.

A total of 209 players including a WIM took part from all over the country, and one from Colombia and Sweden each. The one-day eight-round Blitz Open tournament was organized by Foundation Chess Academy at Hotel The Grand Jabalpur ‘Lal Haveli’ in Jabalpur, Rajasthan on 4th January 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2seconds increment.
