Abhijay’s second consecutive triumph in Italy
12-year-old Abhijay Barua won 2nd Caravel Cup Roma B (1500-1900) 2026 scoring an unbeaten 8/9 and gained 207.6 Elo rating points. It took place from 13th to 18th June. Then he won 1st I Due Alfieri Villa D’Amato Open B (1500-1900) Rating 2026 scoring 5.5/7 and increased his Elo rating by 87.6 points. Total he gained 295.2 Elo rating points in July 2026 FIDE Rating list. These are his first two rating tournament triumphs of his career.
The tournament witnessed the total participation of players 67 – 9 in Master (>2000), 19 in Open A (1700-2100), 14 in Open B (1500-1900) and 25 in Open C (<1700).
The total prize fund was €5200. The top three prizes in Masters (>2000) were €1200, €600 and €400 + a cup each. The top three prizes in Open B were €200, €100 and €90 + a cup each.

A total of 9 players including two GMs and two IMs took part from four countries across the world in the Master (>2000) category. The eight-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by I Due Alfieri at Hotel Villa D’Amato in Palermo, Italy from 19th to 26th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.

A total of 14 players took part from all over Italy and two from India in the Open B (1500-1900) category.
