Aditya Mittal convincingly clinches 3rd Al-Beruniy Challengers 2026
GM Aditya Mittal scored an unbeaten 6.5/9 to win 3rd Al-Beruniy Challengers Round-Robin 2026. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. GM Manuel Petrosyan (ARM), GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov and GM Chongsheng Zhen (CHN) scored 6/9 each. They secured second, third and fourth place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was US$ 75000, US$ 18700 in Challengers. The top three prizes were US$ 5000, 3500 and 2500 each.
Aditya’s first triumph of the year
GM Aditya Mittal took sole lead after the third round and maintained it till the end of the tournament. Aditya has won a lot of tournaments in Kazakhstan. However, this is his first triumph in Uzbekistan in over 11.5 years. The last time he won in Uzbekistan was Gold at Asian Under-8 Open Rapid in 2014.

20…Ne7? dropped the e5-pawn 21.dxe5 dxe5 22.Rxe5 Ne4 23.Rxe4 fxe4 24.Ncxe4 White got two pawns for the exchange. Black’s king is also relatively weaker. GM Aditya Mittal (2610) combined these two facts and went on to win in a dozen more moves against GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy (UKR, 2536).
