Anustoop Biswas dominates 4th HDCA Rating Open 2026
Anustoop Biswas scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 4th HDCA Rating Open 2026.
Anustoop’s fourth overall, third rating tournament triumph of the year
Anustoop Biswas and Arpan Das were the coleaders at 7.5/8 each, going into the last round. Nine players were trailing by a full point at 6.5/8 each. Shankhadeep Maity lost to Anustoop and the latter became a clear champion. Arpan drew against Raghav Srivathsav V and the former finished second. IM Subhayan Kundu defeated Sudhir Kumar Sinha to claim third place.
The total prize fund was ₹405000. The top three prizes in Rapid were ₹100000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each.

26.Nf4?? Anustoop Biswas (2196) found a beautiful sequence Nfd4+! 27.cxd4 Rxf4 28.Bg3 Nxd4+ 29.Kb1 e5 Black sacrifices an exchange but gained a crucial pawn which played a critical role in Black earning a victory. 30.Bxf4 Bf5+ 31.Ka2 exf4 and Black won the game a dozen moves later.

A total of 254 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country and one from Zimbabwe. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Hazaribag District Chess Association at Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribag, Jharkhand from 16th to 24th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
