Aravindh Chithambaram’s team SC Viernheim dominates Bundesliga 2025-26
SC Viernheim won Chess Bundesliga 2025-26 for the second time in the last three seasons. They defeated SC Heimbach-Weis-Neuwied 4.5-3.5 in the final round to win the league scoring a perfect 30/30. OSG Baden Baden and Sfr. Wolfhagen scored 23/30 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. Aravindh Chithambaram scored an unbeaten 3.5/7, finishing the weekend scoring 1.5/3.

SC Viernheim dominated the season by winning all 15 of their matches and finishing seven points ahead of the runners-up. This is their second triumph in the past three seasons as their previous triumph was in 2023-24.

GM Dr. Bassem Amin (EGY, 2628) was the top performer for SC Viernheim. He is the only player to have played all 15 games and scored 11.5 points. GM Dennis Wagner (GER, 2592) played the second-most games – 14. He scored 9.5 points, same as GM Alexey Sarana (SRB, 2658) who played one game less.
