Gireman Ja awesome at 1st Quad Chess Academy and Friends Chess Club Rapid Rating Open 2026
Gireman Ja scored a perfect 9/9 to win 1st Quad Chess Academy and Friends Chess Club Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Gireman’s second rating tournament triumph of the year
FM Arpith S Bijoy and FM Gireman Ja made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. They were the coleaders heading into the final round. As many as eleven players were trailing them by a full point at 7/8 each. Gireman defeated Arpith to become a champion with a 100% score 9/9, Arpith finished second. Gokul Krishna S lost to FM Aakash G and the latter claimed third place.
This is the second rating tournament Gireman played this year and he won it. Previously he won 4th CMJ Blitz Rating Open 2026 in Malaysia at the beginning of this year.
The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹17500 and ₹15000 along with a Diamond Quad Pass each.

FM Gireman Ja scored a perfect 9/9, finished a full point ahead of the competition and gained 42.6 Elo rating points
A total of 564 players including a GM, three IMs and a WIM took part from various parts of the country, one from Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden and Zimbabwe each, and two from the USA. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Quad Chess Academy and Friends Chess Club at Koumara Madalayam Kalyana Mandapam in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 14th June 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
