Jval Saurin Patel clear first at 1st Jyoti CNC Rapid Rating Open 2026
FM Jval Saurin Patel scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Jyoti CNC Rapid Rating Open 2026. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Kartavya Anadkat, IM Srijit Paul and Kiyan Kevalkumar Patel scored 8/9 each. They secured second, third and fourth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹31000, ₹21000 and ₹11000 along with a trophy each. Jval won the first tournament he played in 2026.

CM Naitik R Mehta and FM Jval Saurin Patel were the coleaders 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Eight players were trailing them by a half point at 7/8 each. Naitik lost to Jval and the latter became the champion. Herin Renishkumar Patel suffered a defeat against Kartavya Anadkat who finished second. Devam Makwana went down against IM Srijit Paul. Sriji claimed third place.

A total of 393 players including two IMs took part from all over the country, one from Australia, Canada, Liberia, Zimbabwe and two from Zambia. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Chess Coaching Center at Sardar Nagar Society Community Hall in Rajkot, Gujarat on 11th January 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
