Kumaresh conquers International Rating Chess Fiesta Grand Prix 2026 in Jammu

CM Kumaresh A scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win Premier Chess Academy presents International Rating Chess Fiesta Grand Prix 2026. Ashutosh Jamwal scored 7.5/9 to secure second place. FM Ram Prakash and Sumit Grover scored 7/9 each. They were placed third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. 

Kumaresh’s third overall, first rating tournament triumph of the year

The top seed of the tournament, CM Kumaresh A won eight games in-a-row to win the tournament with a round to spare. Sumit Grover and Ashutosh Jamwal were at 6.5/8 each. The last round result was immaterial to Kumaresh’s first place finish. Kumaresh lost to Asutosh, the former still became the champion and the latter second. Shashi Pal Sharma suffered defeat against FM Ram Prakash who finished third.

A total of 119 players took part from various parts of the country. The six-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Jammu District Chess Association at IDPS School in Jammu from 26th to 31st March 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
