Nihal Sarin clear first at Menorca Masters 2026

Nihal Sarin drew his final round game against the youngest World Chess Champion, Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR) to become a clear winner of Menorca Masters 2026. The World no.23 finished with 6/10. Ponomariov and Richard Rapport (HUN) scored 5.5/10 each to secure second and third place respectively. The total prize fund was 22000. The top three prizes were 7000 + trophy, 5000 and 4000 each respectively.

Nihal’s second triumph of the year

Nihal Sarin won his second Rapid super tournament this year after he won Tata Steel India Rapid 2026 back in January.

The World Champion, D Gukesh and Leinier Dominguez Perez (USA) scored 4.5/10 each. Pentala Harikrishna scored 4/10. Both Gukesh and Harikrishna ended the tournament with a loss against Richard Rapport (HUN) and Leinier respectively.
