Nubairshah Shaikh dominates 4th KTBS Rapid Rating Open 2026

Top seed IM Mohammad Nubairshah scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 4th KTBS Rapid Rating Open 2026. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. IM Nikhil Dixit and Shlok Sharnarthi scored 8/9 each to secure second and third place respectively. The total prize fund was ₹300000 + trophies. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. This was Nubairshah’s first tournament triumph of the year.

A total of 294 players including eight IMs took part from all over the country, one from Australia and Zambia each. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Kalyan Taluka Buddhibal Sanstha at The Cambria International School in Kalyan West, Maharashtra on 18th January 2026. The time control of the tournament was 15 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
