PSPB wins 23rd National Team Rating Women 2026
Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Airports Authority of India scored 12/14 each at 23rd National Team Rating Women Championship 2026. PSPB became champion on tie-breaks, AAI had to settle for second place. West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh B and Telangana A scored 9/14 each. They secured third to sixth place respectively. The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹125000, ₹100000 and ₹75000 along with a trophy each.
PSPB scores a hat-trick in this decade
PSPB has dominated both Open and Women’s event for a long time in the previous decade. However, PSPB Women’s team for the first time won three consecutive times in this decade. Unlike the last two triumphs, PSPB did not have it easy this time. Andhra Pradesh B team handed their sole loss of the event by a minimum margin 2.5-1.5 in Round 3.

IM Nisha Mohota and WGM Mary Ann Gomes have been a part of all three of these triumphs. IM Padmini Rout was in the last two including this edition. WIM Arshiya Das and WIM Prishita Gupta were the debutants of PSPB.

A total of 96 players including 2 IMs, 2 WGMs and 5 WIMs represented 21 teams all across the country. The seven-day seven round Rating Team tournament was organized by Chhattisgarh State Chess Association at Agrasen Dham in Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 16th to 22nd March 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
