Rahul Sangma wins Sarguja Cup Rating Open 2026

IM Rahul Sangma and Indrajeet Mahindrakar scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 each at Sarguja Cup Rating Open 2026. Rahul won the tournament on tie-breaks, Indrajeet was placed second. CM Vinod Kumar Sharma scored sole 7/8 to finish third. The total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹51000, ₹27000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each.

Rahul’s third rating tournament triumph of the year

IM Rahul Sangma and Indrajeet Mahindrakar made a perfect start by winning seven games in-a-row. They emerged coleaders at 7/7 each. Rahul drew against Indrajeet and became the champion. Indrajeet was placed second. Mayank Sonare lost to CM Vinod Kumar Sharma and the latter finished third. WCM Rajanya Datta split the point with Kishan Kumar and the former claimed fourth place. Rajanya is the sole female player to make a top ten finish.

A total of 287 players including an IM took part from all over the country. The four-day eight-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Suseema Welfare Foundation at Govt. Polytechnic College in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh from 10th to 13th April 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
