Sahib Singh dominates Arad Blitz Rating Open 2026
IM Sahib Singh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Arad Blitz Rating Open 2026.
Sahib second in Chess960; Open – Deep Sengupta fifth, Naitik Mehta scores an IM-norm
Blitz: IM Sahib Singh was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. IM Filip Magold (ROU) and GM David Gavrilescu (ROU) were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Sahib defeated FM Marek Karas (SVK) to become a clear champion. Filip lost to David. The latter finished second and the former third.
Open: IM Or Bronstein (ISR) won 19th Arad GP Open A 2026 scoring sole 7.5/9. GM Deep Sengupta was the sole Indian to make a top ten finish. He scored 7/9 to be placed fifth. CM Naitik R Mehta scored 6/9 to score an IM-norm.
Chess960: FM Teodor-Cosmin Nedelcu (ROU) scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 to win Arad Fischer Random 2026. IM Sahib Singh scored 6/7 to finish second. Luca-Delian Popescu-Vava (ROU) finished third scoring 4.5/7.
The total prize fund was €36000. The top three prizes were Lei 25000, 15000 and 10000 along with a trophy and a medal each.

A total of 137 players including a GM, three IMs and a WGM took part from 19 countries across the world. The one-day nine-round Blitz Open tournament was organized by Federatia Romana de Sah at Amiral Events and Style Arad in Arad, Romania on 7th August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
A total of 208 players including 15 GMs, 29 IMs, 3 WGMs and 5 WIMs took part from 31 countries across the world. The seven-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Federatia Romana de Sah at Amiral Events and Style Arad in Arad, Romania from 3rd to 9th August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 15 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
A total of 18 players including an IM took part from five countries across the world. The one-day seven-round Chess960 Open tournament was organized by Federatia Romana de Sah at Amiral Events and Style Arad in Arad, Romania on 3rd August 2026. The time control of the tournament was 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
