Saurabh Anand scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Power Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Saurabh’s third overall, second rating tournament triumph of the year
FM Saurabh Anand made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. Shlok Chandrani was the only player trailing him by a half point at 7.5/8. Saurabh drew the final round game against Shlok to become a clear champion, Shlok finished third. Aditya Savalkar defeated Nirmaan Pohane to secure second place scoring 8/9. Aahana Pachchigar and Dhanashree Rathi are the only two female players to make a top ten finish. They scored 7/9 each to be placed ninth and tenth according to tie-breaks.
The total cash prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each.

A total of 308 players took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Power Chess Academy and Chess Association Washim at Tirupati Lawn and Resorts in Washim, Maharashtra on 17th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
