Shahil Dey sensational at Festival des 400 Coups 2026, Harshavardhan shines
IM Shahil Dey won Festival des 400 Coups (>1900) Classical and Blitz Rating. He also finished third in the Rapid Rating Open.
Shail makes a podium finish in all three formats, Harshavardhan second in Classical and first in Rapid
IM Shahil Dey was the sole leader at 6.5/8, heading into the final round. FM David Lacan-Rus and GM Harshavardhan G B were trailing by a half point at 6/8 each. Shahil lost to GM Matthieu Cornette (FRA) and still the former became the champion due to better tie-break scores. Alain Genzling (FRA) drew with Harshavardhan and the latter secured second place. IM Deimante Daulyte-Cornette (FRA) shared the point with David and the latter claime third place.
Apart from Shahil and Harshavardhan, IM Ameya Audi and Vihaan Karthikeya N are the remaining two Indians to make a top ten finish. Ameya scored 6/9 to finish sixth. Vihaan scored 5.5/9 to be placed ninth.
The total prize fund was €9200 in Group Boulets (>1900). The top three prizes were €2000, €1200 and €750 along with a trophy each.

Rapid: Harshavardhan clear first, Shahil third
India’s 97th GM Harshavardhan G B scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 to win the Rapid Rating Open. IM Deimante Daulyte-Cornette (FRA) and IM Shahil Dey secured second and third place respectively scoring 6/7 each as they had better tie-break scores. This is Harshavardhan’s first triumph after he became a Grandmaster.
The total prize fund for Rapid was €1300. The top three prizes were €250, €150 and €100 along with a trophy each.

Blitz: Shahil Dey clear first
IM Shahil Dey scored 8/9 to win the Blitz Rating Open. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. GM Laurent Fressinet (FRA) and Nathan Eveno (FRA) scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks.
The total prize fund for Blitz was €1300. The top three prizes were €250, €150 and €100 along with a trophy each.

The seven-day nine-round Rating tournament was organized by Echiquier Club Montalbanais at Palais des Sports Jacques Chirac in Montauban, France from 12th to 18th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
A total of 160 players including 5 GMs, 3 IMs and a WGM took part from nine countries across the world in the Rapid Rating Open. The one-day seven-round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Echiquier Club Montalbanais at Palais des Sports Jacques Chirac in Montauban, France on 11th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 20 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
A total of 122 players including 3 GMs and 3 IMs took part from ten countries across the world in the Blitz Rating Open. The one-day nine-round Blitz Rating tournament was organized by Echiquier Club Montalbanais at Palais des Sports Jacques Chirac in Montauban, France on 12th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment.
