Shahil Dey wins 1st Danne’s Rating Open 2026

IM Shahil Dey, IM Sriram Adarsh Uppala, Ajjesh J R and Shriraj Bhosale scored 8/9 each at 1st Danne’s Rating Open 2026. Shahil won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaning three were placed second to fourth according to tie-breaks.

Shahil’s second rating tournament triumph of the year

IM Shahil Dey was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Seven players – IM Sriram Adarsh Uppala, Nithin Babu, Shaunak Badole, Divith Reddy Adulla, Ajjesh J R, Vikramjit S Singh and Shriraj Bhosale were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Nithin drew against Shahil and the latter became the champion. Sriram Adarsh defeated Vikramjit to secure second place. Ajjesh won against Shaunak to finish third.

The total prize fund was ₹1100000. The top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each.

IM Shahil Dey scored an unbeaten 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 8.1 Elo rating points

A total of 609 players including five IMs took part from various parts of the country, two from the USA and one from Zimbabwe. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by Danne’s Chess Academy at Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana from 30th April to 4th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
