Siddhant Gawai dominates 1st NIT Rapid Rating Open 2026
Siddhant Gawai scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st NIT Rapid Rating Open 2026.
Siddhant’s third overall, second rating tournament triumph of the year
Nameet Chavan made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. The top seed of the event, FM Siddhant Gawai was the sole pursuer at 7.5/8. Siddhant defeated Nameet to become a clear champion, Nameet finished second. Sai Sharma won against Vishwaditya Awasthi to claim third place.
The total prize fund was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹21000 + trophy, ₹180000 and ₹14000 each.

A total of 477 players took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Shri Swami Samarth Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha Nagpur and Nagpur Institute of Technology at Nagpur Institute of Technology in Nagpur, Maharashtra on 12th July 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
