Sudhanshu Ranjan wins 3rd Mandar Rapid Rating Open 2026
Sudhanshu Ranjan and FM Kumar Gaurav scored 8/9 each at 3rd Mandar Rapid Rating Open 2026. Sudhanshu won the tournament on tie-breaks, Kumar was placed second. Half a dozen players scored 7/9 each. Out of them, Himanshu Ranjan secured third place. The total prize fund was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹20000, ₹15000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each.
Sudhanshu wins both tournaments he plays in 2026
FM Kumar Gaurav, Himanshu Ranjan and Sudhanshu Ranjan were the three leaders 7/8 each, heading into the final round. Himanshu lost to Sudhanshu and the latter became champion, the former third. Kumar defeated Snehit Raj Singh to finish second. Sudhanshu’s sole loss of the event was against the eventual runner-up, Kumar in Round 7, while Kumar remained undefeated.

Sudhanshu Ranjan scored 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 36.2 Elo rating points
A total of 114 players took part from various parts of the country. The one-day nine-round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Banka District Chess Association at Banka Khel Bhavan in Banka, Bihar on 21st February 2026. The time control of the tournament was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
