Vijay Shreeram victorious at 2nd Annai Arul Public School Rating Open 2026
Vijay Shreeram P scored 8/9 to win 2nd Annai Arul Public School Rating Open 2026.
Vijay’s second rating tournament triumph of the year
Mukesh Muthukumar, Krithin Durai D and Vijay Shreeram P were the three leaders at 7/8 each, heading into the final round. Mukesh lost to Vijay and the latter became the clear champion. Krithin drew against Lukesh A and the former finished second. FM Pavan Karthikeya Varma Gunturi defeated Abhishek J R to claim third place.
A little over two weeks before winning this event, Vijay won 1st Sri Krish Rating Open 2026.
The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000 + trophy, ₹40000 and ₹30000 each.
A total of 294 players including an IM took part from various parts of the country, one from Canada and England each. The five-day nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by and at Annai Arul Public School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 20th to 24th May 2026. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
